Fish Processing Foreman

Reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Job Description

The Squalicum Processing Foreman is directly responsible for all processing operations at the Squalicum Plant. That includes all fish house and boxing line related operations.

The Squalicum Processing Foreman is responsible for overall safe, organized, sanitary and efficient receiving, handling and freezing operations at the Squalicum Waterway facility. The foreman plans and directs all fresh fish handling and freezing activities.

The Squalicum Processing Foreman oversees the boxing line operation and, with the Boxing Line Foreman, is responsible for overall safe, organized, sanitary and efficient boxing activities at the Squalicum Waterway facility.

The Squalicum Processing Foreman ensures that safety is first and foremost for all employees working in his area. He ensures that all staff in his area is utilized in an efficient and productive manner while prioritizing activities or projects. He ensures that all employees in his area are providing the best possible service to all customers. Conducts annual written performance appraisals for each leadperson, and works with the leadperson to conduct annual appraisals for each of their year-round employees within their department. He ensures that proper training opportunities are made available and that all necessary and appropriate training of employees is accomplished over a thoughtful time schedule.

Mandatory Job Requirements

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience. Must possess an excellent understanding of handling and freezing of fresh fish, boxing of fresh/frozen fish, employee supervision and fish house operations. Must remain drug free and must report to work on time and free of drugs or alcoholic influence. Must be appropriately dressed, in a manner consistent with good personal hygiene, and with clothing appropriate and consistent with the job to be performed. Must be willing to work overtime when it is necessary to supervise the processing crew. Must be willing to take on new responsibilities as necessary and or appropriate.

Other Job Requirements

  • Drivers License (Valid & in good standing without major or multiple violations)
  • Forklift Operator Certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Acceptance and Adherence to BCS Core Values

Skills and Training Considered Beneficial But Not Required

$60-70K annual income plus great benefits
