BCS shifts strategies to hire and train during COVID-19

April 15, 2020

As an essential partner in the food pipeline, Bellingham Cold Storage is continuing to conduct business throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, helping ensure that grocery stores are stocked and that families have food on the table.

That means we continue to need forklift drivers, especially with the busy harvest season approaching. No experience is necessary; BCS will train you to be a forklift driver (and pay you while you learn).

We are hiring now! To apply for a forklift driver position, simply follow the instructions at https://www.bellcold.com/careers/.

To minimize unnecessary exposure to COVID-19, we’ve cancelled our annual job fair. It’s just one of many changes we’ve made at BCS to help limit the spread of COVID-19, as CEO Doug Thomas announced in March.

Some perks of joining the BCS team as a forklift driver trainee:

While working on our warehousing team, new drivers at Bellingham Cold Storage participate in a robust forklift driver training program that teaches valuable job skills.

Paid daily overtime is available. As a BCS team member, you can earn 1.5 times your hourly wage when you work more than eight hours in a day. In addition, hourly wages escalate based on the number of hours you’ve worked.

Bellingham Cold Storage provides fabulous, inexpensive benefits. BCS has an extremely generous, low-cost benefit package for eligible employees and their families, including a free clinic right here in Bellingham.

BCS team members are encouraged to learn and grow in their careers, including opportunities for continuing education, peer mentorship and leadership roles for those with a strong work ethic and a passion for the industry.
