Clark’s Berry Farm – Customer of the Quarter

June 21, 2024

Customer since 1996

For over 28 years, Clark’s Berry Farm has been a valued partner, and their dedication to quality and innovation aligns well with Bellingham Cold Storage’s core values: quality, integrity, accountability, attitude, and teamwork.

Established by Marvin Clark, Clark’s Berry Farm has a rich history in Washington agriculture. Originally a multi-crop farm, farming strawberries, beans, corn, cauliflower, and cucumbers. In 1974, Marvin’s son John and his wife Barbara took over the business, and grew the company by purchasing SnoCo Berry Pack in Marysville in 1980. It was not until 1985 that John added raspberries to their operations.

1996 was a pivotal year for Clark’s Berry Farm, as they built their current plant in Lynden and became a customer of BCS. This marked the beginning of a strong partnership that has flourished over the years.

John’s commitment to excellence extends beyond farming. In 2003, John started operating an IQF tunnel at BCS’ waterfront facility, adding this high-quality pack to the more traditional process of packing raspberries into pails and drums. This forward-thinking approach ensures Clark’s berries retain their peak freshness and flavor.

Clark’s Berry Farm exemplifies a strong family tradition in agriculture. Beyond John Clark’s leadership, his son Brent demonstrates remarkable dedication by transitioning from educator to processing manager during harvest, overseeing both the facility and the IQF line. Kristie, Brent’s wife, provides invaluable year-round support by managing the farm’s office operations.

We at BCS are incredibly grateful for Clark’s Berry Farm’s long-standing partnership and dedication to high-quality berries. Their commitment to excellence inspires us, and we’re honored to play a role in bringing their delicious berries to market.

Congratulations again, Clark’s Berry Farm! We look forward to many more years of fruitful collaboration.
