Rail is an integral component of logistics at BCS. Our oceanfront campus at Roeder Avenue in Bellingham features seven rail loading spots adjacent to our frozen and dry storage warehouses. These warehouses are portside to our private ocean terminal, connecting vessels, rail and trucking for efficient receiving and shipping of various cargoes. Every year, BCS customers ship millions of pounds by rail.
BNSF supplies the rail service to BCS. BNSF Railway is one of North America’s leading freight transportation companies, with a rail network of 32,500 miles in 28 states and three Canadian provinces. BNSF’s website describes fresh and frozen service that features satellite temperature monitoring and includes capabilities for dairy, fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, and consumer and industrial products.
